WICHITA, Kan. — Funeral services for Wichita firefighter Ty Voth will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Park City Arena, formerly Hartman Arena, the city said Monday.

Wichita Firefighter Ty Voth, 27, was a five-year veteran of the department

A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, prior to the funeral, at the arena, 8151 N. Hartman Arena Drive in Park City.

Memorial information and other details are pending, the city announced in a news release.

Voth died in the line of duty Thursday after responding to a house fire in Haysville. The 27-year-old collapsed while on scene and died after being taken to a hospital. His exact cause of death is pending.

Voth was responding to the fire with a crew on Engine 19 that was assigned to attack the fire.

In a news conference last week, Wichita Fire Chief Tammy Snow said firefighters went into the house “and extinguished the majority of the fire, a pretty significant fire up in the roof area. They were redeploying their line. They pulled it outside. They got to the porch. There was a little bit of a mop-up that he and his crew were going to extinguish, and that was when he succumbed to his injury.”

Snow called Voth a hero in both life and death.

He was a five-year veteran of the Wichita Fire Department .
