WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. — The Wayne Township Fire Department announced the passing of former firefighter Rodrick Shane Lambert, who succumbed to injuries sustained nearly 30 years ago while on duty.
The department stated that Lambert died due to paralysis and other injury complications from a May 1995 incident when the fire truck he was in overturned. The crash also claimed the life of Wayne Township firefighter Ronald Deer, WTHR reported.
“Over the last 30 years, Rod was a fixture at Wayne Township fire stations, visiting often and bringing his incredible spirit and smile, inspiring others to never give up on life’s challenges,” Wayne Township Fire Department Captain Eric Banister said.
